West Ham United Football Club is an English Premier League association football club based in Upton Park, Newham, East London. They have been members of the Premier League for all but three seasons since its creation in 1992, and their highest finish in the Premier League was Fifth in the 1998–99 season.
The club was founded in 1895 as Thames Ironworks FC and reformed in 1900 as West Ham United. In 1904 the club relocated to their current Boleyn Ground stadium. They initially competed in the Southern League and Western League before eventually joining the full Football League in 1919 and subsequently enjoyed promotion to the top flight for the 1923 season. 1923 also saw the club feature in the first FA Cup Final to be held at Wembley against Bolton Wanderers.
In 1940 the team won the inaugural Football League War Cup. The club have won the FA Cup three times: in 1964, 1975 and 1980 as well as being runners-up twice, in 1923 and 2006. In 1965, they won the European Cup Winners Cup, and in 1999 they won the Intertoto Cup. The club's best final league position is third place in the 1985–86 (old) First Division.

By Road
From The North
Take North Circular (A406) to A124 (East Ham), then on Barking Road for approximately 1.5 miles until you approach the traffic lights on cross-roads. Turn right into Green Street, ground is on the right hand side.
From The East
Use A13 (signposted London) then at cross-roads turn right A117. In 0.9 miles at cross-roads turn left into Green Street for West Ham United FC.
From The South
Use Blackwall Tunnel and A13 to Canning Town, then follow signs East Ham A124 in 1.7 miles turn left into Green Street for West Ham FC.
From The West
Take North Circular (A406) to A124 (East Ham), then on Barking Road for approximately 1.5 miles until you approach traffic lights on cross-roads. Turn right into Green Street , ground is on your left hand side.
By Train
Take the underground to Upton Park tube station which is on the District Line. The ground is only around the corner from the station. Turn right along Green Street past the market and the ground is a bit further down on the left hand side.
By Bus
Numbers 58, 104 and 330 run along Green Street. The number 238 from Stratford to Barking goes along Plashet Road. Numbers 5, 58 and 147 go along Barking Road.
By Tube
The closest tube station to the ground is Upton Park, which is only a stones throw from the ground. The main problems arrive when you exit the ground. The police make fans queue to get into the tube station, and we have had several reports that this can take up to 45 minutes. Many fans suggest that it's quicker to walk to different tube station. One fan told us '10 mins to get out of the tube station and to the ground, and 45 mins to get back in!'
