Sunderland v Chelsea
Sunderland Association Football Club is an English Premier League association football club based in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear. Since its formation in 1879, the club has won six First Division titles—in 1892, 1893, 1895, 1902, 1913, and 1936—and the FA Cup twice, in 1937 and 1973 (see Sunderland A.F.C. seasons). The club was founded by schoolteacher James Allan and was elected into The Football League in 1890 where the team performed well in the league, earning plaudits such as a "wonderfully fine team".
Sunderland play their home games at the 49,000 capacity all-seater Stadium of Light having moved from Roker Park in 1997. The original ground capacity was 42,000 which was increased to 49,000 following redevelopment in 2000. Sunderland have a long-standing rivalry with their neighbouring club Newcastle United, with whom they have contested the Tyne–Wear derby since 1898.

From A1
Exit the A1 at the A690 Durham/Sunderland exit. After approx 4 miles turn left onto the A19 (signposted Tyne Tunnel), Keep in the left hand lane and take the slip road signposted Washington/Sunderland onto the bridge over the river Wear. Turn right onto the A1231 (signposted Washington/Sunderland) stay on this road going straight through 4 roundabouts in to Sunderland. Continue straight through 3 sets of traffic lights and the stadium car park is on the right about half a mile past the traffic lights.
By Train
The ground is a 15 minute walk from the station. Exit the station between the WHSmith and the bakery, turn left and walk down High Street West. Turn left again into Fawcett Street. This leads to the Wear Bridge. Cross the bridge, and turn left into Millennium Way. You can't miss the ground from here.
