Newcastle United Football Club are a English Premier League association football club based in Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear. Founded in 1892 by the merger of Newcastle East End and Newcastle West End, they have won four First Division titles—in 1905, 1907, 1909 and 1927—and six FA Cups—in 1910, 1924, 1932, 1951, 1952 and 1955—as well as the 1969 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup and the 2006 UEFA Intertoto Cup.
Newcastle United played in Newcastle East End's red kit until 1894 when they adopted their current black and white striped shirts. They have a long-standing and fierce rivalry with neighbours Sunderland with whom they have contested the Tyne-Wear derby since 1898.
Newcastle's home stadium is the sportsdirect.com @ St James' Park Stadium which has been their home since the merger of East End and West End in 1891, though football was first played there in 1880. At the turn of the 20th century the ground could hold 30,000, but this was soon expanded to 60,000. However, the ground was altered little in the next 70 years, and by the 1980s was looking dated

By Road
From The South
Follow the A1, A68 then A6127 to cross the Tyne. At the next roundabout, take the first exit into Moseley Street. Turn left into Neville Street, then right at the end for Clayton Street and then Newgate Street. Then turn left for Leazes Park Road.
From The West
Take the A69 towards the City Centre. Turn left into Clayton Street for Newgate Street, then left again for Leazes Park Road.
From The North
Take the A1, then follow signs for Hexham until you get to Percy Street then turn right into Leazes Park Road.
By Rail
Newcastle Central is half a mile from the ground. A taxi will cost about ?3.00. To walk it, cross the road towards the Bakers Oven and turn right down Central Street. Turn left into Grainger Street and left again into Westgate Road. Turn right into Bath Lane and the ground is on your right. The Metro Station is right next to the stadium, though if you are taking the Metro it may be quicker to walk from Monument station instead.
By Bus
There are many buses which head in the direction of the ground. Get off at Gallowgate.
